The Middle Ages is the 1000 years period which lasted roughly from 500 to 1500. In the Middle Ages many castles were built. The noblemen, ladies and knights lived there. Knights protected the people against enemies. In times of peace, they practiced their skills during knight tournaments. The (early) Middle Ages is also the period in which the Vikings travelled the world on their voyages of discovery and plunder raids.
